Focal point of our Organ Tour Paris 2012 is the 150th anniversary of the famous Cavaillé-Coll organ in Saint Sulpice. The organ with 102 stops on 5 manuals is one of the biggest and most interesting organs in the world. The inauguration was on 29th April 1862.
The organists at Saint Sulpice were Charles-Marie-Widor, Marcel Dupré and Jean-Jacques Grunewald. Organist since 1985 is Daniel Roth.
Musical focal points of the Organ Tour are the anniversaries of French organ composers:
Léon Boëllmann (150 anniversary of birth), Louis Vierne (75 anniversary of death), Charles-Marie Widor (75 anniversary of death)
Over the four days a total of more than 10 instruments will be viewed and demonstrated through small recitals. Much to see and much to listen to. Plus, for the organists always the chance to play. Something for everyone! An Organ Tour for organ fans and professionals.
Start of the Organ Tour is Wednesday, April 11th at 3.00 pm and it will end on Sunday, April 15th on 1.00 pm.
